My favorite part of waking up in the morning is the promise of coffee. Even the ritual of making it (boiling the water, measuring out the grounds, letting it brew in the French Press) soothes my soul. And truly, nothing is better than that very first sip.
Unfortunately, the older I get, the more I’m beginning to realize I can’t drink as much coffee as I used to. That’s why it’s important to make it count, so that the two mugs of coffee I can have are good to the very last drop.
Thankfully, Mountain Avenue Market has a wide selection of different coffees to choose from, the vast majority of which are made right here in Fort Collins, CO!
First (and my personal favorite) is Wander Coffee. Ethically sourced, they have a wide variety to choose from, including my favorite, their Organic Night Sky Blend.
Another popular brew is coffee from Cafe Richesse, which you can also order through us in bulk! Try their Farmers’ Market blend or their classic espresso roast. Either way, you really can’t go wrong with this crew.
For another popular coffee from Fort Collins, check out Harbinger’s selection, from their Guatemala Waykan (dark chocolate and bing cherry notes) to their Ethopia Nano Challa (with notes of lilac, candied orange, and melon) your palate is in for a treat.
Another one of my go-to coffees is brew from Jackie’s Java. Roasted fresh right here in Fort Collins, they have a number of different blends to choose from (Heaven’s Blend, Dad’s Blend, and Black Velvet, just to name a few). They just remodeled their storefront as well, so give them a visit and see what they have to offer!
Bean Cycle Roasters is another fan favorite in the world of Fort Collins coffee. Their Colombia blend is my personal favorite, with notes of black tea, chocolate, orange, and raspberry. Trust me, this one is out-of-this-world good.
Lima Coffee Roasters is another fantastic choice. Their Chiapas blend is especially delightful, with notes of cocoa, jackfruit, and peanut butter.
And last but not least, there’s Solar Roast Coffee. While not from Fort Collins (they’re based in Pueblo, CO) this brew is particularly special, as it’s the world’s only solar-powered coffee roaster. “Our solar aroma roasting process makes our coffees the richest and most flavorful beans you will ever brew,” reads their mission statement. “Using solar power allows us to roast with a gentle heat resulting in a lower temperature roast. We roast our coffee slow and low, like a good BBQ.”
So stop by the food co-op and treat yourself to a proper brew. You won’t regret it!
