Halloween’s tomorrow, and in my house growing up, that meant Mom was going to make our favorite seasonal confection: dirt pudding.
For those not in the know, dirt pudding is a dessert made to look like, well, dirt. It’s traditionally made with chocolate pudding, Oreo’s, and gummy worms (more on those ingredients below). It’s a no-bake, super easy to make treat that’s sure to delight kids of all ages (and adults as well, of course).
Thankfully, your friendly neighborhood co-op has all the ingredients you need to whip some up for the big day.
- Instead of Oreo’s, we have the healthier KinniTOOS Chocolate Sandwich Cookies. 1 1/2 packages will do the trick!
- You’ll need four tablespoons of melted butter, so while you’re here, grab a block of Pure Irish Butter from Kerrygold (salted or unsalted works!)
- You’ll also need 3 1/2 cups of whole milk, so grab a glass bottle (the less plastic, the better!) of Morning Fresh Dairy Farm’s whole milk, family owned since 1894 and straight from our state of Colorado.
- For the chocolate pudding, be sure to grab two boxes of our Chocolate Organic Cooked Pudding Mix
- For the cream cheese, you’ll need 8 ounces softened to room temperature. Mountain Avenue Market has you covered with Organic Valley’s Cream Cheese Spread, served in 8 oz tubs.
- For your 1 cup of powdered sugar, check out our Bulk section! We have organic powdered sugar with tapioca starch for $4.99 a pound.
- For the whipped cream (12 ounces worth, thawed) you can stay dairy with Natural by Nature’s Classic Whipped Cream, or go dairy-free with Soyatoo’s Rice Whip.
- And last but not least, the Gummy Worms. We have several bags of organic Gummy Worms by Black Forest, so you can top off your dirt pudding with however many worms you desire.
And while you’re here, we’d love it if you could treat us with a donation to our GoFundMe. We so appreciate all you’ve contributed so far, and hope to keeping serving you, the community, by raising more funds for our humble co-op.
Stay safe out there, y’all, and Happy Halloween!
