Winter has me craving comfort food (more specifically, carbs) and nothing satisfies that craving like a bowl of mac n’ cheese.
It’s a staple in my house. Easy to make, affordable to buy, and a reliable standby on a busy winter day. Thankfully, Mountain Avenue Market has you covered with a variety of this classic favorite to choose from.
First up is Macaroni & Cheese by FishSki Provisions, an independent food company based in Boulder, CO. We carry their Cheddar, Hatch Green Chile, and Garlic combo. Not only is this mac n’ cheese vegetarian with all natural ingredients, but 3% of every sale from FishSki is donated to environmental activism. Their site reads as follows: “Current sales [. . .] are supporting stream restoration efforts by the Boulder FlyCasters Chapter of Trout Unlimited, trail restoration on Colorado high peaks, Colorado Backcountry Hunters and Anglers, Rio Grande watershed awareness, Native Rio Grande Cutthroat Trout reintroduction in Sand Dunes National Park, and Colorado Trout Unlimited’s Youth Camp.” Now that’s a pasta worth investing in!
Our second selection comes from Freak Flag Organics. With no GMOs, no artificial flavorings, zero preservatives, zero antibiotics, and no hormones, this Macaroni and Cheese is both indulgent and healthy, with flavors like their Four Cheese Mac and their Broccoli & Cheese (both of which we carry!)
Next up is Howl, a plant-based food company from California. Their mac n’ cheese is vegan with a creamy cashew sauce base. We carry their Sharp Cheddar recipe and, for the more adventurous, their Spicy Chipotle.
Last but not least, we carry a plethora of different mac n’ cheeses from Annie’s, including: Classic Cheddar, Penne & Four Cheese, Shells & White Cheddar, and Shells & Real Aged Cheddar. New in stock at our food co-op is their new Gluten Free Rich & Creamy, for those trying to go gluten free.
