Heeerrreee we goooooo!!!
Starting Saturday, March 3rd, the Co-op will be closed for (fingers crossed… hopefully… God willing and the creek don’t rise) 10 days to renovate our sweet little neglected store.
We will have a crew of staff members and beloved volunteers in here this weekend to take down all the grocery shelves, demo the registers and start work on the bathrooms! We will be moving the registers pretty much back to were they were in 2012 and also moving the bathroom door that faces the south to be in line with the other bathroom door that faces the west. One of our awesome members, Mark Dwyer, will be doing this construction for us and we love him!
Monday is when the REAL fun begins! Thunder Pup (a local commercial general contractor) will be doing the work to replace our OLD single pain windows as well as expand our entrance to a double door (no more lunch rush awkwardness!). The entire front of our store will be demo’d to do this work. Meanwhile Performance Air will be running refrigeration lines from the roof where (almost) all of our generators will be!
Tuesday is when our new produce case, coolers and freezers arrive to be installed over the next few days! For the most part, the store will be taken up with contractors, electricians, AND THERON (who has been our project manager for all of this work we’ll be doing. We want to thank him so much for his tireless work and his organization through all of the ups and downs of planning such a huge project)!
HOPEFULLY by Thursday, we will be back in the store to start putting grocery shelves back up. Mark and Theron will be installing our new bar seating area along the front window. Over the weekend (March 9th-12th) we will be cleaning, painting, placing orders to replenish our stock of all your favorites, organizing, making burritos and soups, giggling and being generally excited for how awesome the store looks!
If everything goes perfectly we will hope to open by 9am on March 13th!
